Golden Medic® detailed Instruction Sheet specifically for help with:
Hand SterilizerRef: 0
Golden Medic® should be applied to the hands before entering any public place
(hospital, airplane, gym, restaurant, etc.) it works best when applied regularly.
Hand sanitizer is a liquid generally used to decrease infectious agents on the hands. Formulations of the alcohol-based type are preferable to hand washing with soap and water in most situations in the healthcare setting. The general use of non-alcohol-based versions has no recommendations. Outside the health care setting evidence to support the use of hand sanitizer over hand washing is poor. Versions that contain 60 to 95% alcohol are most effective. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer works against a variety of microorganisms but not spores. Non-alcohol-based versions may contain benzalkonium chloride or triclosan. Reference - Wikipedia search.
So, we can see the best sanitizers are alcohol based. We can therefore deduce that they are only effective while the alcohol is present. We know that the alcohol evaporates quickly, while this happens our hands feel cold. That doesn’t last very long and then the sanitizer stops being effective. There is also evidence that some sanitisers have resistant agents.
·Roll out a small quantity of Golden Medic® powder onto each finger, top to bottom.
·Now rub the two hands, palms together vigorously, to spread it evenly to over the entire inner surface of the hands and especially the fingers.
·Golden Medic® is lipophilic (oil loving) the powder sticks well to the skin, where it binds to the natural sebum and does not wear off easily. It will also not rinse off completely with plain water, as it is hydrophobic (water hating).
·Very little comes off even onto a clean piece of white kitchen towel, but it will still be present up to 6 hours of normal daily hand use.
·It can readily be removed using a little soap (surfactant) and water and this can be used to wash out any fabric that may become contaminated by the powder.
·There is no residual action from the powder after it is removed; so, for best results it should be applied before entering a public space.
·Not required to remove any older powder.
·Simply add new powder as required, but at least every 6 hours for best effect.
·Continue covering the hands with the powder until you are out of the danger area.
·The powder only has its antimicrobial action (protection) whilst on the hands. It has no residual effect.
Prevention – Always have Golden Medic® on hand!
·Applying a thin layer of Golden Medic® to the hands will help prevent infections.
·Most infections ± 80% are passed on via fingers then touching the eyes, using Golden Medic® as a hand sanitiser is very effective at preventing these.
